Maharlika, Philippines
In January 2026, I traveled to my ancestral land in Tuy, Philippines to photograph the sugarcane landscapes tied to my father's history and the generations of labor that shaped them. Moving through fields, roads, homes, and industrial spaces, I reflect on the relationship between land, labor, migration, and family. Maharlika considers how industry transforms both the physical environment and the people connected to it, while tracing the emotional weight carried through care, survival, and lineage.
