Coney Island, April 19

Photographed at Coney Island, these self-portraits were created in response to the violence in Negros Occidental, Philippines on April 19, where 19 people lost their lives. Using the ocean and an inverted Filipino flag as symbols of unrest and injustice, the project became a reflection on what nationality means to me as a Filipino and as a Filipino‑American.
